Strange but Good: Cumin & Cayenne Fluff

I am not sure why I have not done this earlier than today. I have made Blueberry Fluff, Strawberry Fluff, even Chili-Mango Fluff

Why not a SAVORY FLUFF? p.s… I am sure there are more flavors to come. Stay tuned.

For today’s STRANGEbutGOOD, I bring you a spicy blend of cumin and cayenne flavors. The spiciness is calmed by the dairy in the cottage cheese. You are left with a versatile dip or topper for a rice cake (my fave), bread, etc…

Cumin & Cayenne Fluff
-1/2 cup cottage cheese
-drop of milk (if needed)
-1/2t cayenne
-1/2t cumin

*Blend everything on high power until smooth.

Easy peasy–I know.

My favorite way to eat this is as a dip.

I tried it with carrots. Yum. Celery. Yum. Cucumbers. Yum.

You get the idea…

What flavors should I combine next?? I would love your ideas!

WIAW: spring break

Wednesday already?? Time flies when you’re having fun…

AKA St. Patty’s weekend full of friends & goodies!

This WIAW is a Spring Break edition because I am home and off of work. Just because I am not at work, I still try my best to stick to a schedule. (I even wake up at 5:30 to go to CrossFit!!) Call me crazy, but if I sleep in everyday, I would feel like a lazy bum!

Don’t forget to pop over to Jenn’s place & see what else is being shared on this wonderful Wednesday 🙂

Alarm went off bright and early–filled up my water bottle and grabbed a paleo Healthy Bite that I made.. ate it in my car. YUM.

At CrossFit, I always drink 2 Starbuck’s Trenta size water bottles. I drink one during the class/workout and refill for the ride home. Seems like a lot, but I need to get things moving (if ya know what I mean!)..

It was our front desk attendant’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Laura!!) and our fabulous trainer, Taysia, made Paleo Brownies (with sweet potato). I grabbed one for later & fully intend on making a version, soon.

When I got back home (~8am), made some coffee and was starved! I made an extra large protein shake this morning. It hit the spot! (recipe to follow) 🙂

without spinach… & with (gotta get the greens in where you can)

I even dipped a ricecake in–my favorite way to eat the shake.

Alongside the protein shake I had a Fuji apple and some unsweetened banana chips.

My tummy started growling around 11:15, but I had some errands to run. I was excited because I knew it was time to try one of my Questbars. I had half of the Cinnamon Bun.

Verdict? It was good… There was not a big cinnamon flavor like I was expecting. It was sweet (maybe like cinnamon bun icing??) with a hint of cinnamon. I am looking forward to the others in the upcoming days.

When I got back from getting a new watch battery (one of my Spring Break goals!!!!), I was hungry. Lunch was a nice balance of veggies, chicken, and a quarter of a sweet potato.

Yes, I dipped my chicken and broccoli in yellow mustard. Don’t judge. It’s STRANGEbutGOOD.

In case you were wondering, I do have a shirt that says this…

My family can attest to the fact that I have a slight obsession.

As the day went on, I snacked on a carrot and some apple chips that I made.. and if I must say so, tasted FABULOUS! I will share the recipe soon.

Dinner rolled around..about 6:45 and I had..

3/4 chicken breast with a side of cabbage, broccoli, and mushrooms.. topped with red pepper flakes–mm mm good!

Night time snack was an oldie but a goodie!  Blueberry Protein Fluff–served atop a rice cake.  A delicious way to end the night..

Nutty-cocoa-nana Protein Shake
-1 cup almond milk
-1T peanut flour (use MLS308 to save $$$)
-1 scoop chocolate protein powder
-1T cocoa powder
-1/2 banana
-1t vanilla extract
-6 ice cubes
-1/2t guar gum
-1 handful of spinach (opt)–recommended!!

*Blend ‘er up and stick in the freezer to chill.

Question: What is your favorite Questbar flavor? I am excited to try more!

WIAW: typical day

Considering my first WIAW post was about what I ate while I was sick, I thought I would do a “typical” day.

I don’t know if there really is a “typical” day of eats in my life because I am switching thingsup a lot… However, nothing was truly special today or out of the ordinary.  So, here goes!

Be sure to stop over to to see what Jenn and tons others are eating this Wednesday.

I ALWAYS start my day off by reading the newspaper.  I was glad to read this article.

THANK GOODNESS!  Healthy better damn well be the new skinny.  My favorite part was number three of the positive changes to make:

“Focus on appreciating your body – no matter what your weight is. Build your self-esteem by recognizing all the amazing things your body does for you.”  Thank you to Ursula Ridens for this fabulous article.

As I read the paper, I eat breakfast (8:00am).  My breakfast today was a new recipe Ithrew together in the blender.

(recipe at the end)… sorry to keep you waiting 😉

Along with the shake, I enjoyed a Jonagold apple (which by the way, are 49 cents a pound at Sprouts this week!!!!!!)

Off to work I went…. My schedule doesn’t permit me to have a snack.  I don’t worry though because lunch arrives at 11:45 (only 3 hours after breakfast–perfect!)

Lunch was half a chicken  breast (love love love Sunday food prep), broccoli, and a hard-boiled egg (again, food prep is key!).

This lunch was strangely filling… Maybe it was the protein in the chicken and egg and the fiber in the broccoli??  I didn’t snack until it was dinner time..

Okay, maybe I munched on some spaghetti squash.  Hey, I had to make sure it was done!

Dinner was a play on Pad Thai.  It included spaghetti squash, chicken, lime juice, peanut flour, green onions, garlic, egg, and cilantro.

Low in calorie, high in protein & veggies.  Does it get any better?

One of these days I will post the recipe.

Bedtime snack quickly approached (8pm)…

Strawberry Fluff called my name & I answered 😉

Please do yourself a favor and make this shake.

-1 cup almond milk

-1/2 cup cottage cheese

-1 scoop vanilla protein

-1/2 t almond extract

-1/2 t vanilla extract

-1/2 t butter extract

-5 ice cubes

-1/4 t xanthan gum & 1/4 t guar gum (optional for thicker shake)

*Blend it all..

*Throw it in the freezer to chill….

*Eat. Seriously, your mind will be blown!  BAM.
